When I was absent on maternity leave, members of the local Aboriginal community organised Armidale’s first survival day event. Here is a quote, and some photographs, from Ambēyaŋ language revivalist Callum Clayton-Dixon about the day:
Wangan awtila (hello all). Here are a few photos from the 1st Survival/Invasion Day gathering at the Aboriginal Community Garden in Armidale. Members of the local Aboriginal community (Anaiwan, Gumbaynggirr, Dhanggati and Gamilaraay people) came together, and organised this gathering in just one week. The yuunggara (rain), laamatiika (thunder) and kimita (lightening) didn’t stop us either! A big thanks to all who helped make this possible. #InvasionDay #SurvivalDay #RevivalDay Uyitika lanapura
