At the community garden, Elders gathered together over a series of workshops in 2015 and 2016 to share some of the history of the East Armidale Aboriginal Reserve with university staff as part of a Cultural Immersion program delivered by Gomeroi Aboriginal Employment Officer Rob Waters and Gamilaroi legal studies scholar Marcelle Burns.
This confronting, decolonising program was designed for both academic and administrative staff, and included senior university management as participants in the program, such as the Vice Chancellor, Dean of Research, and Heads of School.
